Minnesota Workers Compensation Seminar
This popular class will give business owners, CEO’s, HR Managers, Independent Contractors, Lead Workers, Foremen and Supervisors a better understanding of Workers Compensation and what it is all about. The information presented will help you to understanding how to avoid claims by knowing what to do BEFORE an injury occurs, how to properly handle a situation when one does occur and what is actually covered by Workers’ Compensation in Minnesota.
The next seminar is scheduled for May 16, 2007 and November 14, 2007 from 8:30am until Noon.
Understanding the Minnesota Treatment Parameters
This course covers the treatment parameters for workers’ compensation and is aimed primarily at:
- Health Care providers who deliver medical treatment, develop plans of care and make referrals for treatment of injured workers
- Insurance adjusters and third party administrators who authorize medical care and pay medical bills and
- Medical case managers and disability case managers who coordinate and facilitate medical care for injured workers.
Information will be provided on when the treatment parameters apply, how to use them as a cost-containment tool and how to use them as a tool to guide clinical decision-making when treating a work injury. At least one case study will be used in the presentation.

Medical Treatment in Workers Compensation - How to Pay and Get Paid
This course covers the use of the Minnesota medical fee schedule and rules governing billing and payment of medical services for workers’ compensation. This course is targeted toward:
- Medical billing staff responsible for submitting bills for workers’ compensation and
- Insurance adjusters, third party administrators and billing review organizations who review and pay medical bills under workers’ compensation.
You will receive information on how to determine reimbursement for hospitals, surgery centers, pharmacies and other health care providers for services provided under workers’ compensation. In addition, the course will cover billing forms, remittance advices, return to work issues and what to do when a dispute arises over medical bills.
